FINE ART BOOKS, ARTISTS' PUBLICATIONS & EPHEMERA
BOOKS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We actively look for significant books relating to the visual arts. We are interested in individual works, small groups, specialist collections and complete libraries, with particular emphasis on rarity, condition, provenance, completeness and artistic or bibliographic importance.
Our principal areas of interest include:
-
Artists’ books & livres d’artiste — particularly signed, limited and numbered editions, books containing original prints or multiples, and important collaborations between artists, writers, printers and publishers.
-
Modernism & the avant-garde — Dada, Surrealism, Futurism, Constructivism, De Stijl and related movements, including scarce periodicals, manifestos, portfolios and ephemeral publications.
-
Modern & contemporary art — important monographs, exhibition catalogues, artists’ publications and limited editions relating to significant twentieth- and twenty-first-century artists.
-
Photography — important first editions, photobooks, signed copies, limited editions and publications by significant photographers and publishers.
-
Fine & private press — Kelmscott, Doves, Ashendene, Golden Cockerel and other distinguished presses, together with notable bindings, illustrated books and finely printed editions.
-
Illustrated books — significant works from the nineteenth century onwards, particularly books featuring original lithographs, etchings, woodcuts, pochoirs or other original graphic work.
-
Artist-designed and experimental publications — works exploring the book as an artistic medium, including unusual structures, materials, bindings and production methods.
-
Exhibition & auction catalogues & ephemera — scarce and historically important catalogues, invitations, prospectuses, posters and related printed material associated with significant artists, galleries, auctions and exhibitions.
-
Complete sets & catalogues raisonnés — particularly scarce or comprehensive publications documenting an artist’s work and career.
-
Important collections & libraries — focused collections formed around an artist, movement, publisher, medium or period, as well as substantial art libraries with notable provenance.
-
Ancient art and archaeology, Asian and Islamic art and ethnographic material.
We are particularly interested in first editions, limited editions, signed and inscribed copies, presentation copies, copies with distinguished provenance, original bindings and complete copies retaining their original portfolios, plates, wrappers, dust jackets or slipcases. Condition is important, although we will consider exceptional material where rarity or provenance outweighs condition.

BOOKS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are interested in art books, auction and exhibition catalogues, dealer and gallery publications, artists’ books, specialist monographs and provenance-related printed material, with an emphasis on material that is scarce, unusual or of genuine research interest. We are especially interested in annotated catalogues, private collection publications, specialist reference works and material connected with notable artists, collectors, dealers, exhibitions or collections.
If you have books or printed material that you think may be suitable, please get in touch with a brief description or photographs. Collections can be considered discreetly and in situ, and we are happy to discuss outright purchase, selected acquisition or material that may be appropriate for private sale or auction.
